For instance, if you desire your wine to retail at $25 per bottle in retail outlets, with anticipated markups of 40% at retail and 30% at wholesale, the calculator will determine the necessary farm gate price—the amount you must charge the wholesaler. According to the calculator, you would need to set your price at approximately $9.68 per bottle, amounting to $116.16 (excluding WET) for a case of twelve bottles, and if you qualify for a WET rebate, as many wineries do, this adds an extra $26.11 for a case, resulting in a total cost recovery of $142.28 for the wine.
