All your music in one app

    Date: Feb 10 2026

Summary: If you’ve ever lost a track because you couldn’t remember whether you saved it on YouTube, SoundCloud, or that one Bandcamp page, Crates is worth a look. It’s addressing legitimate technical debt in how we collect music across the fragmented web. Worth watching as it matures.

Positive: Centralized library for music scattered across multiple platforms – finally one place to find everything
∙ Smart crate system with proper metadata handling (BPM, genre, custom tags, actual search that works)
∙ Solves a real problem the major platforms have no incentive to fix
∙ Team is responsive and actively iterating based on community feedback
∙ Desktop experience is solid and functional

Negative: Mobile versions need significant work (team acknowledges this)
∙ Still early-stage – some rough edges in the UX
∙ Depends on platform APIs that could theoretically change or break

Great new music manager and player for mac

    Date: Jan 21 2025

Summary: Nice new modern player, replacement for iTunes. Their website is cool. Overall promising but still learning the ropes. Would love to see how it evolves with more features like the ones mentioned on their website

Positive: Nice interface, imported all my music from files and spotify

I like the browser extension, it's like Pinterest for music bookmarks.

Negative: A bit clunky when scrolling through a big list of songs
